People ask how we got started so here’s our short story… I work full-time and needed a hobby so many years ago I started riding again. I started in the hunters but after a riding vacation to England, found my true enjoyment in eventing. I do this for fun as I’m sure most of you do! Determined to start competing, a couple of us at the barn were talking and thought if we had some more jumps, we could practice regularly. (sounds like common sense to me!) So I asked my dad, being very handy, to construct some for me. This turned into a few other friends wanting some jumps – nothing fancy but very functional. Dad being a good sport and enjoying the construction agreed to help them out. So with a little encouragement, the small jump construction company, Take 5 Equestrian LLC, was born in 2003! We have taken input from many trainers and customers and tried a few new things, to come up with the items on the web site. If you have feedback for us – please let us know! A friend of the family, who lives in the mid-west, heard about the new venture. She asked if we could miniaturize the jumps so her girls could setup a jump course in the basement. She has 3 horse-crazy girls and was tired of her couch pillows, brooms and anything else they could find being used for the Basement Grand Prix course. So we built the first Mini Jump set and mailed it up to her in time for Christmas. She setup the course in the basement and on Christmas morning, when the girls went downstairs, they were thrilled with their Grand Prix replica complete with red and white flags! That is how we added Mini Jumps to our web site. They were very popular for Christmas 2004 and continue to be a hot item. We’ll start on Christmas orders in September as each order is custom made. If you would like some jumps – full-size or mini, call us or email us! We’d enjoy talking to you, and hearing your stories. The more people we talk with, the more we realize what a small horse-crazy world this is! Just don’t be surprised by the ya’ll with the British accent when you call. Happy Riding!! Samantha |
